In a lot of shop talk out here, we've discussed this quite a bit. Clearly things on most cars are put into place for a reason but the fact remains that Nissan really did go the extra mile on this car. Reading any history books on the development from 1987-on will tell you that. That's clearly not evidence enough to justify pulleys, but there is a lot of truth in the statement. Combining that with the countless motors Greg D. has pulled/worked on with them is why I still run mine. Even after all of this, I still think the risk is worth it, especially since that wear pattern seems to be more from detonation or a crank issue more than anything else. The fact still remains: don't run one if you don't want to take the risk :)
